Japans Biggest Festival in Kyoto

In 2017, I documented Gion Matsuri, a centuries-old festival of purification and community spirit. The streets filled with towering yamaboko floats, while geishas, maikos, and devoted participants honored tradition through music, dance, and sacred rituals. The festival’s essence — resilience, artistry, and collective devotion — echoed through every moment I captured.
