Working with Bamboo
Bamboo is a lifeline for communities in the Philippines and a sustainable resource valued worldwide for construction, crafts, and climate resilience. I documented the daily grind of workers in Siquijor, Philippines, who harvest this versatile grass — following them as they cut towering stalks and loaded heavy bundles onto trucks bound for markets. Their labor fuels an industry that bridges tradition and innovation, highlighting bamboo’s vital role in both local livelihoods and global sustainability.
